Last updated: 9 May 2026

The service

untangle.ie provides free renovation cost estimates for Irish homeowners. It is offered "as is" with no warranty of any kind. By using the calculator or browsing the site, you agree to these terms.

Important disclaimers

Estimates are guidance only

  • untangle.ie is not a substitute for professional advice.
  • Actual costs may vary significantly based on site conditions, contractor availability, specification changes, and market fluctuations.
  • Always obtain at least three quotes from qualified, registered tradespeople before committing to any works.

No liability

  • We are not responsible for decisions you make based on untangle.ie estimates.
  • Consult registered architects, structural engineers, and builders before proceeding with any project.
  • Check planning, fire-safety, and building-regulation requirements with your local authority.

Data sources

Estimates are derived from publicly available sources, including:

  • Local authority planning registers (for example Dublin City Council).
  • Public forum discussions on Reddit and AskAboutMoney.
  • Publicly published renovation cost guides and contractor rates.

We cite our methodology on the About page. Where the dataset is small, the calculator widens its confidence band rather than claiming false precision.

Acceptable use

  • You may use untangle.ie for personal, non-commercial planning.
  • Automated scraping, scraping at scale, or systematic re-publishing of our calculations or content is not permitted.
  • Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, deface, or interfere with the service.

Changes to estimates

We update the data and the calculator regularly as new market evidence becomes available. Estimates seen today may differ tomorrow. Save or screenshot your result if you need a fixed reference point.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Irish law, untangle.ie, its contributors and partners are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. Your sole remedy is to stop using the service.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.
